Welcome Onboard:
Imagine what it would be like to live aboard a boat and experience the joy and excitement that everyday life offers. Picture yourself steering to a new harbour, the thrill of discovering new locations unfolding before you, or sailing overnight, navigating and keeping watch with nothing but the open sea around you. Create new culinary delights with produce you may not even recognise — food is always excellent onboard, as our captain is also a professional chef. Maintenance might be your thing, and you may want to learn how everything works, or simply relax and read a book — that’s fine too. The record for one crew member is nine books in a single week!
Crew members arrive on their first day, providing ample opportunity to settle in and get comfortable before we set sail. We start with Part 1 of the safety and housekeeping briefing (Lifejackets and Toilets) then its straight out to provision the boat the same day. Followed the next morning by part 2 of the safety onboard briefing as well as boat familirisation and housekeeping. Weather permitting we will then undertake a short sail to a nearby anchorage to ensure that everyone feels at ease and ready. Safety remains our utmost priority, so we conduct extensive briefings to help everyone become familiar with the necessary equipment. Rest assured, you’ll have plenty of time to practice, as we tailor our itinerary to match your skill level and preferred destinations.

Food and Fun Gallery
As part of Cost sharing and life onboard, everyone gets involves in shopping and choosing the menu for the week. We all go shopping together so that everyone knows what food is onboard and feels comfortable that they will enjoy the meals. Provisioning is not like doing the weekly shop, it starts with identifying foreign foods. Getting it back to the boat and then packing it away, removing every bit of plastic and squeezing it into tubs and containers. Then there is organising the fridge so things are found quickly and dont fall out when you open the door, it can be a challenge with a full crew for 7 days.
Every one takes a turn at cooking, but don’t worry if you really can’t cook – there’s always the washing up. Captain Sally is a qualifed chef and can whip up a quick meal easily enough and usually there are passage meals in the freezer if you fancy something different to whats on offer. We cater for all diets just let us know before hand for life threatening allergies. Onboard we prefer a diet full of fresh produce, home baked meals, local meats and fish, home made Pizza, Lasagna, Moussaka, BBQ etc. If you are Vegan, we ask that you take a greater interest in the provisioning and preperation of meals to reduce stress on other crew members.

Bring soft duffel bags or backpacks instead.
NO Black-soled shoes or stilettoes
Shoes with black or marking soles and stiletoes damage the deck.
Bring non-marking deck shoes or plan to go barefoot onboard. Shore based shoes are removed before stepping onboard to proetect all the surfaces.
NO Large amounts of personal food

Small personal snacks are fine, but please avoid bringing large food supplies unless discussed beforehand.

Please bring cream or lotion sunscreen instead.

For safety reasons we cannot allow large lithium battery devices onboard, including electric scooters, electric skateboards, powered water toys, or similar personal transport devices.
Lithium batteries present a serious fire risk in marine environments and are not permitted onboard.
NO Valuables
Please avoid bringing expensive valuables or items you would be upset to lose in a marine environment.
Simple rule:
If you are unsure about something you would like to bring, please ask us before the trip and we will let you know. Traveling light makes life at sea easier for everyone.
Non Negotiable Policies
How to Get Yourself Thrown Off the Boat!!!
Life aboard Osprey is all about safety, respect, and teamwork. Break these rules, and you risk being asked to leave at the next safe opportunity. Read carefully — these are the behaviours and items that are never allowed onboard.
Alcohol Policy
Dry Whilst Sailing:
- No drinking while we are sailing. Simple as that.
- Once we are securely anchored or tied up at berth, drinks are allowed.
BYO only
- We don’t supply alcohol. You’re welcome to bring your own (within reason) we will have plenty of time to provision once you are onboard.
- Please store it safely in your cabin and drink responsibly – fridge space is minimal.
Drinking Ashore
- If your heading out for a drink on land, thats totally your call – If we need to assist you back to the boat, we will find you a comfy park bench to sleep on.
We get asked a lot about alcohol like its a bad word on a boat. Our own personal preference for alcohol is one or two small drinks of an evening weather dependant. Less on anchor, more when tied up if we choose. If a storm is threatened at anchor we choose not to drink but you may. Onboard we keep a small selection of alcohol and non alcoholic drinks. For health reasons we may choose a non alcoholic beverage some nights but as your on holiday, you may do as you please – thats fine with us.
No Second Chances
- If you ignore any of these policies, you’ll be put safely ashore at the next safe stop.
