Crete to Malta & Tunisia – Offshore Passage, Cruising Malta. June- July 2026
Atlantic Crossing Shakedown Sail.
This leg combines a rewarding offshore passage with relaxed Mediterranean exploration. Designed for experienced sailors and those preparing for longer ocean crossings, this programme offers meaningful sea miles alongside enjoyable coastal cruising.
It also serves as a warm-up phase for our Atlantic crew. If you are planning to join the Atlantic crossing, this trip allows you to sail with the team, build cohesion, and get to know everyone well before we are in the middle of the ocean together.
We depart Crete and sail west across the southern Mediterranean toward Malta, completing a substantial offshore passage before spending two weeks exploring the Maltese islands. The journey continues onward to Tunisia, blending day sailing with optional overnight passages.
Planned Route Highlights
Crete → Malta
A 560 NM offshore passage taking approximately 3–4 nights at sea. This leg is ideal for sailors looking to build confidence and experience ahead of longer passages such as the Atlantic crossing. Prior offshore experience required.
Malta & Gozo Cruising
Two weeks of day sailing around Malta and Gozo, exploring hidden bays, secure anchorages, and historic harbours. Swim, snorkel, kayak, and paddle in crystal-clear coves, with time ashore to enjoy authentic Maltese and Mediterranean cuisine.
Malta → Tunisia
A relaxed cruising leg westward, combining coastal day sailing with the option of an overnight passage depending on weather and crew preference.
Throughout the programme, routes remain flexible and adaptable to weather conditions and crew interests.
Kayak, WiFi, and floating water toys included onboard.

Tunisia to The Canary Islands – August to November 2026
Late Season Sailing Programme
As the summer softens across the Mediterranean, Osprey begins her westward journey toward crossing the Atlantic. This final phase of the season blends relaxed cruising with purposeful passage-making as we position the yacht for her ocean crossing.
We’ll sail occasional overnight passages and enjoyable day cruises from Tunisia to Sardinia and Corsica, then onward through Menorca to mainland Spain. Along the way, we combine beautiful anchorages with meaningful sea miles.
Planned Route Highlights
Tunisia → Sardinia
A longer passage to open the programme, settling into offshore rhythm before enjoying Sardinia’s calm southern bays, ideal for swimming, snorkelling and relaxed evenings at anchor.
Sardinia → Corsica
Short scenic legs mixed with the option of overnight sailing. Corsica offers dramatic cliffs, turquoise anchorages and charming harbours to explore ashore.
Corsica → Menorca
A rewarding offshore leg followed by secure calas such as Cala Macarella and Cala Galdana, perfect for swimming and easy coastal day sailing.
Menorca → Mainland Spain
A final Mediterranean passage bringing us to the Spanish coast, where we will spend approximately four weeks carrying out maintenance, inspections, and preparation for the Atlantic season.
Atlantic Positioning Phase
With preparation complete, we depart Spain for a purposeful offshore passage:
Spain → Morocco
Coastal sailing transitioning into ocean miles.
Morocco → Canary Islands
A true ocean passage as we sail south-west to the trades.
Arrival in Gran Canaria by 14 November 2026

Arrival on or within one day of this date is compulsory to ensure full participation in preparations.
Enjoy 7 days of pre-rally seminars and shore-based training, combined with provisioning, safety checks, final repairs, and complete departure preparation.
ARC Rally Start: 22 November 2026
Atlantic Crossing: Estimated 15–18 days at sea
Arrival Celebrations: Up to 7 days of post-race celebrations and recovery.
Crew members are welcome to depart at any time after arrival if unable to stay for the full programme.
